A strange car theft in Beaverton, Oregon, gained attention because of the thief’s unexpected reaction after stealing a vehicle. A mother had left her car unlocked with the engine running while she briefly went inside a store, unaware that a 4 year old child was still strapped into the backseat. After driving away, the thief discovered the child and immediately returned to the location.


When he got back, he reportedly told the mother to remove her child and criticized her for leaving the youngster unattended in the vehicle. After making sure the child was safe, the thief drove away with the car. The unusual incident stood out because, despite committing a crime, the suspect appeared more concerned about the child’s safety than completing the theft without interruption.
