🚨Georgia Doctor Jena Salem Strangled, Sexually Assaulted, and Throat Slit by Repeat Criminal With 40+ Prior Charges. Dr. Jena Salem, a medical resident and anesthesiologist in DeKalb County, Georgia, was brutally attacked in her own home in late January. The suspect, Derrick Bernstein, cut her electricity, jumped on her bed, strangled her, sexually assaulted her, stabbed her in the chest (causing a collapsed lung), and slit her throat with a kitchen knife. Despite the horrific injuries, Salem fought back fiercely — breaking the knife blade during the struggle, shoving the attacker off, and escaping to a neighbor’s house for help.
