A 14-year-old boy was among eight people killed over the long holiday weekend that saw nearly 40 others wounded, including 14 people shot during a Juneteenth celebration on the Far South Side.
Marcus Chatman, 14, was shot multiple times around 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the 8000 block of South Carpenter Street in Auburn Gresham, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Marcus played for the Midwest Hawks youth football team in Country Club Hills.
“Though his life was taken far too soon, his memory will forever remain a part of the Midwest Hawks family,” the team said in a statement.
