Rebecca Joynes was a high school maths teacher in Manchester when she was first arrested for s*xual offences against a teenage boy. While out on bail, with conditions explicitly barring her from contact with anyone under 18, she began messaging a 15-year-old student on Snapchat. She was eventually arrested again for breaching bail. By then, she was pregnant with his child. The baby was born in early 2024 and taken from her within 24 hours. In his victim impact statement, the boy said Joynes refused to tell him anything about the pregnancy. No appointments. No gender. No due date. He found out about his own child's birth the way everyone else did. He also said he struggled to find support as a male victim, and that he believes the response would have been different if the genders were reversed. A jury found her guilty of six s*xual offences.
