Giuffre's father, a maintenance worker at the resort, helped her get the job, and she met Donald Trump a few days after starting. Trump reportedly asked her if she babysat, and she occasionally earned extra money doing so for families staying in properties nearby.
It was at Mar-a-Lago that Giuffre met Ghislaine Maxwell, who recruited her to work as a "masseuse" for Jeffrey Epstein, marking the beginning of her two-year ordeal of sexual abuse and trafficking.
Donald Trump has stated that Jeffrey Epstein "stole" Giuffre and other young women from his club, and claimed he banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago for "being a creep" and poaching his employees. Giuffre, who died by suicide in April 2025, never accused Trump of participating in any sexual abuse, though she stated in a deposition that they were friends and that Trump never flirted with her.
